Life in your 20’s is different for everyone. Some of us go to college, some go straight into the workforce, and some of us live in our parents’ basements until they take us to court to kick us out. (Anyone know what I’m referring to? lol).
But the one thing we all have in common is that we have no idea what the hell we are doing.
Even if you have a God-given talent that you are clearly meant to do, you’re still likely to question yourself and wonder if this is your, “path.”
But no one can blame us, right? We are only a quarter of the way through our lives and expected to just know what we want to do for the next 40+ years. We are pulled back and forth between picking things we are passionate about, good at, makes the most money, is meaningful, and actually allows you to have a life.
It’s laughable to think you can find something that gives you all of those things. But when you look at that list how do you decide which one you could live with sacrificing?
And then what if you’re someone like me and don’t have anything you’re truly passionate about? And I don’t mean I’m not passionate about anything in life, just not about anything that I can make a living from (that I know of).
There are things I enjoy doing but aren’t we supposed to do things that light a fire in us? Things that make us feel inspired?
I am 23 years old and have gone through 2 different career paths for myself already and still, I have no clue what I want to do with the rest of my life.
There were times I thought I was right where I needed to be. I was proud of what I was doing and thought I had it all figured out…And then I realized I don’t. I woke up one day confused and wondering, “is this it?” Is this what the rest of my life is supposed to be about and revolve around?
Honestly, I don’t know. But I know I will figure it out, and you will too.
You guys, I am not putting this out there to complain, but to be open and honest about how I feel, and to help show other people my age that they’re not alone. You’re not crazy, you’re not lazy, and you’re not a “quitter”.
We all need to come to terms with is that as we all change and grow, so will our wants, needs, and lifestyles. And I don’t think we will ever really feel 1000% confident in what we are doing. Do you?
If you’re out of your 20’s, let me know if this uncertainty ever goes away.
Until then, hopefully, these quotes can help you like they’ve helped me lately.
When you’re feeling guilty about wanting to start over again.
“Never too old, never too bad, never too late, never too sick to start from scratch once again.” -Bikram Choudhury.
When you feel like you’ll never find success.

When you need help deciding what to do and money is a factor, listen to miss Maya Angelou.
“You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead, pursue the things you love doing and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off of you.” ― Maya Angelou
A wildcard for those who need this one.
“Some women choose to follow men, and some women choose to follow their dreams. If you’re wondering which way to go, remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn’t love you anymore.” – Lady Gaga
